Classification from the most recent completed official bathing season. In-season samples are taken every two weeks from May to September.
Croatian beaches are classified under the EU Bathing Water Directive, based on regular laboratory tests for bacteria (E. coli and intestinal enterococci). Four classes are used:
Swimming is safe at beaches rated Excellent, Good or Sufficient. A Poor rating means the water failed the bacteriological standard and swimming may be temporarily discouraged there.
